I had to get this off my chest and this seemed like the best blog to do it. Pulldown refresh is already annoying for any internet user as it is.
But when you add in the typical tasks that internet marketers and online business owners handle, it’s just off-the-charts irritation.
Let’s review some things I would typically be doing with my day as a marketer that pull-down refresh makes me want to rip my hair out and run screaming down the street.
Sharing business posts on Facebook.
Facebook has gotten dodgy lately to begin with, never mind throwing in a curveball like pulldown refresh.
If you’re not grinding your teeth trying to use the FB image upload that doesn’t work right, you might be on the verge of losing it trying to edit a post with the broken ass editor that they now have.
Either way, Facebook is bad enough. But then you throw in that slippery pull-down refresh and you’re looking at major messups and lost time.
Or how about when you’re trying to enter information into a form, and you’re backspacing and attempting to edit what you just typed or dictated.
But then whoops… your finger slips, and that damn pull down refresh is there to laugh and mock and destroy all your hard work.
I have had moments where pull-down refreshed literally took down my entire task I was trying to execute. Ain’t nobody got time for that. I mean seriously… we don’t have time for this.
I can’t think of one reason why pulldown refresh would have been of any use to anybody. It’s one of those features that they had to go tinkering when everything worked fine just the way it was.
And that’s pretty much the way of computers now. There’s nothing left to do. So every time somebody comes along with some innovation, they’re just messing with something that was never broken in the first place, making it worse.
I was reading an article online about pull-down refresh. Somebody invented it. I don’t mean to crap on someone’s claim to fame, but is there something else that you could invent maybe?
Pulldown refresh is just making it so much harder to do web marketing from one’s phone. Please do us all a favor and evolve this concept into something more useful in some other application.
